Jennifer did something odd as Roger told her off. Her lower lip started quivering, and tears started to well up in her eyes. Then, suddenly; “UWWWWWWAAAAAHHHH!!!” she cried out, tears flowing freely from her eyes. “You… you don’t understand!!! I hate having to battle Pokemon to catch them, it seems so mean and barbaric! I thought if I had my daddy buy a Ralts for me, I could have one without hurting the poor little dear! But… but… but now you think I’m a terrible person! I’m so sorry!!!”

Meanwhile, Noctowl fluttered over to Sara, staring her in the eyes for a few moments before silently tilting his head and lifting a wing in greeting.

Seth shook his head at his sister and rolled his eyes. Really, sometimes it was hard to believe that she was the older of the two of them.

Maybe I was a bit too harsh... Roger thought as he stared at the scene Jen was making, Wait... this is a lot like what Sara used to do when she didn't get her way. To think that he had chewed out this girl he barely knew, and she reacted exactly like Sara used to... he couldn't help himself; he broke out laughing.

Sara, thinking that laughter wasn't the least bit appropriate for making a relative stranger cry, read his mind to see what was so funny, and she lost it too. "Oh my... haha that is too rich! I was never that... pffhahaha!" She was so enveloped in their shared humor that she had actually spoken aloud, and forgone her formal tone to boot.

Roger stared at Sara through the tears that had gathered in his eyes and fell to the ground at the sight of a Gardevoir laughing its head off and not displaying the smallest bit of its usual composure.

As Roger and Sara began laughing, Jennifer's Noctowl began hooting what was apparently laughter as well... but since he had no clue what they were laughing at, he was apparently laughing just for the sake of laughing.

Jennifer stopped crying, tilting her head curiously at the three of them. After a minute or so, she glanced to Seth. "Wow, was I really that unconvincing?" she asked incredulously, wiping the tears off her face.

"Well, I'm kind of used to your fake tantrums, but I still thought it was pretty good." Seth said with a shrug.

"Hey, it wasn't that fake! I meant what I said, more or less!" Jennifer said defensively. "I think it's mean to battle a Pokemon that I don't plan to use in a battle. But yeah, I wasn't that upset by what Roger said. After all, if I really didn't care about companionship with my Pokemon, I'd just ask Daddy to buy me a Gardevoir. I wouldn't bother asking for a Ralts to raise into a Gardevoir."

Roger bit his tongue and pulled Sara's Pokeball out of his rucksack, "Sara, st - ha - stay in your pokeball until you calm down." Sara was surrounded by a red light and retreated into her pokeball.

Roger took a few deep breaths to try to get himself under control. He picked himself off the ground and dusted himself off. "Oh god... Hey, I'm sorry, but your... scene," he choked back another laugh, "was just like how Sara acted when she was a Kirlia. She always wanted to get her way and tried to guilt-trip me by crying when she didn't."

Sara's ball vibrated in Roger's hand and Roger tossed it in the air, and she popped out. "I apologize for my behavior; it was most innapropriate," her lips twitched with a contained giggle, "I must say that I was never that... theatrical in my tantrums."

"Ah, don't worry about it." Jennifer said with a smile. "I find that turning on the waterworks usually makes it easier to get my point across. My Gliscor's pretty good at it too."

"Wait, Gliscor?" Seth asked confusedly. "Did Gligar evolve or something?"

"As a matter of fact, yes!" Jennifer chirped cheerfully. "Just last night, actually! See, when I was flying to Lake Acuity I got a call from some of my friends, they were going shopping in Veilstone City and wanted me to go with them. Well, you know me, I'm never one to turn down shopping, so I changed direction and headed to Veilstone. Anyways, since I was still trying to figure out which region I should go to next, my friends told me I should stay here in Sinnoh and challenge the Gyms here. I figured, hey, why not, so I challenged the Veilstone Gym Leader and sent out Gligar first, and wouldn't you know as soon as it pops out of its Poke Ball it evolved into Gliscor!" Giggling, she pulled out two Poke Balls with heart symbols on them. "Noctowl darling, time to come back!" she said, recalling the still laughing Noctowl. "Gliscor darling, come on out!" she exclaimed, releasing Gliscor.

"Gli gliiiii scor!" Gliscor said, happy to have a chance to stretch out. Spotting Sara, it quickly glided over to the Gardevoir and landed in front of her, staring up at her curiously.

Tony had been walking for a while now. Larvitar (male, yes), Treecko (male) and Seedot (female) (if you're wondering) had returned a while ago as well. Propably over half an hour had passed since then. "Seedot! Seed seedot!" "You're right. We'd better go get some rest. I think it's Sandgem town over there. Gotta be somewhere we can rest there." Tony answered." They kept walking towards Sandgem. Suddenly a pokèmon jumped Tony from one of the bushes nearby. It took a few seconds before he saw what pokemon it was.

It was a Riolu. He got back on his feet. Not awaiting a command, larvitar used rock slide. Larvitar always attacked if a pokemon ambushed them. Riolu then used quick attack, followed by force palm. Larvitar was knocked back. Seedot hid under a leaf. Treecko surprised Riolu with a quick attack from behind. Riolu turned around, and launched a quick attack back, just as Treecko used pound. Both of them got knocked back for a second, but got back up. They kept attacking each other back and forth for a while.

Meanwhile Tony started wondering how a Riolu got there. They usually appear in other parts of the region. Then, all of a sudden, a Lucario came running out of the forest, and hit Treecko. Realizing that they were no match for Lucario and Riolu together, Tony pulled out the three pokèballs, and sent them back. He then ran away from Riolu and Lucario, in the direction of Sandgem.

Roger looked at his watch. "Today has been the most eventful one I've had in weeks and it's not even four yet. As much fun as standing around and chatting is, I prefer to walk. Should we get moving?" he asked.

"Indeed. My Trainer and I came to Sinnoh to explore, and I believe the outskirts of Sandgem Town hold few sites that merit exploration." Sara added.

"Yup, and while walking, sharing stories is always fun," Roger had a mischievous glint in his eye, "Who wants to hear embarrassing stories about Sara's earlier evolutions?" "And who wishes to hear humilating tales from Roger's childhood?" Sara said half-threateningly.

Bridget raised her hand with a smirk.

"I'd like to hear both" She said with a giggle. "It's nice to meet you Jen, I always appreciate a woman that knows how to get what she wants. By the way, this is Peeks, Psyduck and Natu."

Psyduck extended a claw to shake hands with Sara, but Natu leaped between them and glared at Sara.

"Back off my Kool-Aid. Hussy." Natu thought dragging Psyduck away

((( By this point, it may seem obvious, but unless Sara is adding to something Roger said or I outright state she is speaking to someone, she is keeping her thoughts between her and Roger. Now that I think about it, I guess a conversation like that would be like sitting next to someone who's on the phone.)))

Roger stared off in the direction of Sandgem Town, "Okay, I got one. Sara and I were in Johto, right? I was what, fourteen I think, and Sara was just a Ralts. So we're on Route 32 after spending a day in Violet City doing whatever and this freakin' massive Ekans, seriously it was like a small Arbok, jumps out of a bush and hisses at Sara. She freaked out. She uses Confusion, launches the Ekans into the river, and then teleports into my arms! Oh god, it was so adorable but I couldn't help but laugh at the whole thing!" Roger was fairly certain no one present aside from himself had ever seen a Gardevoir's face turn redder than a Shiny Gyarados before.

"How would any pokemon with half of an egg-full of sense react in such a situation?! If a pokemon more than four times one's size ambushes them, the only logical result is to panic! Sara quickly said as she turned away to hide the fact she was blushing.

Roger laughed good naturedly, "What? No 'humiliating tales from my childhood' in retaliation?" "I have yet to remember something humiliating enough." Sara said curtly.

"Awww, that does sound adorable!" Jennifer exclaimed. "Ooooh, anyone want to hear about the time Sethy irritated a swarm of Combee?"

"Oh God..." Seth muttered, clearly mortified.

Bridget raised her hand again,

"I do!" She said with a grin, "I'm always up for embarrassing stories. But, I think we should do it in more comfort, you guys want to maybe find a restaurant in Sandgem? I could use a cup of coffee."

"Coffee would be nice right now..." Jennifer said thoughtfully. "All right, let's go! I'll buy!"

"Yeah, with money our parents gave you." Seth mumbled.

"Hey, when ya got it flaunt it!" Jennifer giggled, walking towards town. "Bridget, you know what I mean right?"

Roger's ears perked up at the mention of food. "I think there was a burger joint a few streets over from the Pokemon Center, but I can't remember its name... Sara, you know the place I mean right?"

"Yes, and I recall that your order was confused with someone else's."

"Oh yeah... What about the Pokemon Center then? I know they have a cafeteria."

"Food from Pokemon Centers, while nutritious, tends to taste... generic for lack of a better term."

"True. You can't eat that stuff more than twice in a week or you get sick of it really quick," Roger snapped his fingers, "I got it! What about that cafe? You know, the one that had those Pecha Berry muffins?"

"That cafe was rather pleasant. I believe it would be as good a location as any to visit."

"Is anybody against a cafe? I think I remember where it was."

"Pecha Berry muffins? Those sound delicious!!!" Jennifer squealed, bouncing up and down. "Let's go there!"

"Gli gli!" Gliscor agreed.

"I'll catch up, gotta visit the Pokemon Center." Seth said, walking away. He needed to heal his Pokemon, and get an Egg Case for the Feebas Egg.

Roger shrugged, "Whatever man. Hey Sara, go with Seth. You can show him where the cafe is after he's done with Nurse Joy, ok?" "If that is what you want, but will you be able to find the cafe? We both know the reason we explore the countryside as much as we do is that you manage to get lost frequently."

Roger grinned triumphantly. "I remembered to charge my PokeNav last night, so I'm good." Sara nodded and followed Seth.

Roger fished around in his rucksack and grabbed his PokeNav. Let's see... City Map, show Restaurants... Pokemon Center is there... there it is! "Alright Jen, follow me."

Even with his PokeNav, Roger managed to make a couple of wrong turns, but he and Jen made it to the cafe in a reasonable amount of time. It wasn't particularly busy, so Roger just sat at the nearest table.

Jennifer sat down across from Roger, Gliscor happily seating itself in her lap. "It's funny, Gliscor does this all the time, but it feels like it's gotten lighter since it evolved." she remarked, patting Gliscor's head.

Seth soon located the Center, got his Pokemon healed, and got an Egg Case. "Much better." he said, holding the Egg close before turning to Sara. "I guess we're good to meet back up with the others... and Jen."

"You are hesitant to meet your sibling? Do not humans usually look forward to interacting with their relatives?" Sara asked Seth. Whenever Roger was en route to his parents' house, Sara could feel his considerable anticipation rather well. That a human was not enjoying the prospect of meeting with family was a novel concept to her.

Sara navigated the streets better than Roger had, using her Trainer's thoughts like a homing beacon. She found him sitting across from Jen and took her place beside him, receiving a nod in greeting.

Normally, Roger would have acknowledged her verbally, but he was too involved with deciding between discussing the issue of Gliscor's supposed weight loss or ordering something.

"Usually." Seth replied. "But stuck-up, bratty older siblings are generally an exception." He then silently followed Sara to the cafe, before sitting closer to her and Roger than Jen.

"Oh hi you two!" Jen exclaimed as Gliscor waved hello.

Seth nodded in reply to Gliscor, but ignored his sister, examining the menu instead.

"Good idea, let's figure out what to order!" Jen said, unfazed by Seth's silence as she began to glance over the menu herself.

(Aren't Gliscor like 6 ft tall? Wouldn't it be awkward for one to sit on you lap?)

Peeks poked his head over the table and Bridget gave him a Poffin.

"So Jen, I can tell you've done a fair bit of traveling. What's the best place you've seen so far? My brother Byron is doing the gyms in the East of Sinnoh first and I'm doing the West. We're going to meet up in Hearthome City, midway through."

((( Gliscor are 6ft 7in tall, but their tail is like half of their height. If one had its tail hanging off of her lap, it would be plausible. On a related note, Gligar weigh 142.9lbs but Gliscor are only 93.7lbs)))

Roger felt a bit miffed that he apparently didn't appear to have traveled a lot. After exploring all of Hoenn, Johto, and some of Kanto, he felt he should at least appear to have been around. Sara stifled a giggle at her Trainer's reaction to the unintentional blow to his pride.

"Hey Sara," Roger drawled. "Yes?" "Go order me some tea, sweet if they have it." "Someone unintentionally hurting your pride does not give you permission to be so lazy. Place your own order."

Roger stood up. "You're no fun ya know that?" he groaned, but he had a smirk on his face as he did so. "I'm going to order; anyone want me to order for them while I'm there?"

"Oh yes, thanks! I'll have a Chai Latte and a Biscotti" Bridget said, unaware of the slight, fiddling around with her money pouch, which looked like a Gulpin. "Thanks again!"

"A cup of Muk and a two-by-four. Gotcha." Roger joked.

He walked over to the counter. "Hey," he waved to the guy standing behind it, "Could I get a Chai Latte, Biscotti, and a large cup of iced tea." Mr. Employee nodded, "Is unsweetened ok?" Roger frowned. "If that's all you've got." Mr. Employee nodded again.

A minute later, Roger was left with one more item than he could carry. "Hey Sara, help me out would you?" Sara's eyes glowed bright blue again and Bridget's Biscotti was covered in a light matching Sara's eyes.

The airborne pastry floated over to their table with Roger close behind. "You owe me five bucks and fifty-five cents." he said, putting her drink in front of her.

Sara blinked once and a small piece of Bridget's Biscotti broke off and remained floating once the rest settled down on the table. "You owe my trainer five dollars and twenty-five cents." she informed Bridget. She popped the piece of the biscotti into her mouth. "Human food never loses its appeal, if only because there are so many different varieties."

Seth had already gotten up and, at Jen's request, ordered two dozen Pecha Berry muffins (both her and Gliscor had a very big sweet tooth, so the majority were for the two of them), a sparkling water for Jen, and a decaf coffee for him. While he had been gone, Jennifer had been contemplating Bridget's question, and Seth returned just in time to hear her reply.

"I really liked Blackthorn City in Johto, it was a really interesting place!" she chirped. "Not to mention it's where I met Gliscor!"

"Didn't you end up making out with the Gym Leader there?" Seth asked, the slightest trace of a wicked grin on his face. "The same Gym Leader you've had the huge poster of hanging in your room for ages now, what was her name, Clair?"

"I wasn't... we weren't... where did you even hear that?!" Jen asked, clearly flustered.

"Clair's grandfather's good friends with our dad, remember?" Seth asked with a raised eyebrow. "He walked in on your little make-out session right at the end?"

"We were NOT making out!" Jen said defensively. "She was being a jerk after I won and wouldn't give me my badge, so we got into a little scuffle over it! I was pulling her hair when I slipped and fell and I brought her down with me and our lips ACCIDENTALLY touched for like, one second! Nothing big!"

"Suuuuure..." Seth said. "That's why your Clair poster's had a big, crudely drawn heart shape around her ever since you got back from Johto."

Roger bunched up a napkin and tossed it to Sara, who used Confusion to throw it back at him, who returned the throw and so on. "I met Clair once while I was in Johto. One of the most stuck up Gym Leaders I've ever met, but I suppose she's earned the right to be. Dragons are notoriously hard to train."

"Actually," Roger said, "she was one of the few women who didn't go into fangirl mode when she noticed Sara. Coincidentally, Whitney, over in Goldenrod, had once of the worst reactions I've ever seen. I swear she was this close," he pinched his thumb and index finger together, "to performing an actual Screech instead of a Fangirl Squeal."
